Dear Rain Taxi Supporter,
In a chattering, first-draft world, Rain Taxi has been sending us dispatches about great writing—“the news that stays news”—for over fifteen years. The result has been a literary organization known for its distinctive local energy and its unmistakable national impact. All things Rain Taxi—the Review, the Literary Calendar, the Reading Series, and the Twin Cities Book Festival—enrich our lives by introducing us to new writing.
Our small non-profit enterprise has faced challenges this year: a sputtering economy, fewer state and foundation grants, and a forced relocation of the Book Festival. Under the inspired leadership of Eric Lorberer and Kelly Everding—and with the help of an engaged Board of Directors—we’ve met those challenges. The Book Festival began a promising new chapter in a new location. Our careful use of funds makes it possible to distribute Rain Taxi Review of Books nationally, and to introduce Twin Cities audiences to the latest and best in all genres of writing. Literary organizations throughout the Twin Cities have stepped up to partner with the Calendar, making it the go-to source for finding readings.
Ultimately, literature is about individual passion, and individual donations sustain our work. I hope that you will demonstrate your support with a year-end gift to Rain Taxi. No gift is too small; every dollar furthers the literary culture of our community.
Thank you for your support, and happy holidays!
Board Chair, Rain Taxi
