TWIN CITIES BOOK FESTIVAL
The Twin Cities Book Festival depends on volunteers to provide a smoothly functioning, exciting day for its thousands of attendees. Between the book fair, the readings, the Children's Pavilion, and the used book sale, there's plenty to do. Sign up to help out. You'll meet authors, and it's a great way to explore the Twin Cities' fabulous literary community!
To sign up and for more information, email us at: bookfest [at] raintaxi [dot] com.
Volunteer Information:
Shifts will be approximately three hours; volunteers should report 15 minutes early for a quick orientation and training. Most roles involve some interaction with the public and some light physical activity (standing, walking, handling books). We will try to accommodate requests for particular shifts and roles, but please list a first and second choice. The roles are:
Friday Afternoon Setup (3-6 pm): Set up the exhibitor tables, used book sale area, and Storytelling Circle.
Saturday Morning Setup (7-10 am): Greet exhibitors, help them find their tables, transport boxes on carts, and help set up the Information Desk.
The Festival (9 am-12 pm, 12-3 pm, 3-6 pm):
· Used Book Tables: Accept payment for books and refresh stock.
· Reading Rooms: Answer questions before and after author readings, monitor
the doors, hand out raffle tickets.
· Greeters/Floaters: Welcome festival attendees, direct them to reading rooms
and exhibits, hand out programs.
· Information Desk: Direct visitors to readings, exhibits and restrooms,
answer questions.
· Children's Pavilion: Greet performers, staff tables, and distribute donated
children’s books.
· Break-Down: Pack up the Information Desk and Children's Pavilion,
box left over used books, return empty carts.
